Trinity award Colours and Lion

Trinity College awarded Colours and the Lion for the years 2019/2020 and 2021 last Monday with the ceremony graced by the school principal Rev. Araliya Jayasundara assisted by Shane de Silva, the Prefect of Games.

Rugby Colours were presented to T. Karunanayake, T. Thanthirige, H. Samarasinghe, R. Dhanaraj, T. Dodanwatte, T. Karunanayake. M. Jayasundara, M. Subasinghe, S. Robinson, R. Pananwala, Umer Gazi Ismail, K. Kulatunga and L. Moragoda. The Cricket Lion was bestowed on M. Pathirana while Colours were awarded to P. Pathiraja, U. Raizan, R. Somarathne, AMS Thalakotuwa and OL Bandara.

Kingswood CC and Old Ranabima CC win

Kingswood Cricket Club beat New Wave Cricket Club by 207 runs in the Kandy District Cricket Association’s limited overs qualifying tournament match while Old Ranabima CC beat Akurana CC at Wickramabahu College ground.

Kingswood CC elected to bat first and scored 370 for 7 in 50 overs. Oshan Niranjana scored an unbeaten 146 off 116 balls while Meedum Weerasinghe (67) and Saluka Walisundara (58) made useful contributions.

In reply, New Wave CC scored 163 runs in 24.5 overs as K. Danushka scored 40.

Sent in to bat first Akurna CC were bowled out for 182 runs in 40.3 overs and Ranabima CC scored the required 184 for 6 in 43.5 overs.

Vacancies for coaches at Dharmaraja

The Principal of Dharmaraja College has invited applications from qualified coaches below 50 for air rifle shooting, badminton, baseball, boxing, Cadet Eastern Band, chess, cricket (junior), gymnastics, hockey, karate, rugby, soccer, swimming, table tennis, volleyball, wrestling and wushu.

Trinity excel in weightlifting

According to POG of Trinity College Shane de Silva, the school became the overall champions in the Under-16, 18 and 20 Sri Lanka Schools Sports Council inter-schools weightlifting Championship 2021 held at Rajagiriya Maha Vidyalaya, Aranayake on January 8 and 9, 2022.

The men behind their success were the coach Manjula Wijeratne and MIC Kanchana Galagoda for a job well done.

In the under-16 category, T. Rajapakse (1st -49 Kg), Under-18 A. Jameel (1st - 67 Kg), YB. Ratnayake (1st -102 Kg), SK Wavita (1st-102 Kg), A. Solomons (2nd - 55 Kg), C. Dehigama (2nd - 89 Kg), S. Iddamalgoda (2nd - 81 Kg). S. Wijethilaka (3rd - 96 Kg) and T. Peter (3rd -73 Kg) did well while in the under-20 category M. Wickramasekera (1st- 109 Kg), D. Karunasena (1st -81 Kg), K. Jayaratne (2nd -102 Kg) and B. Epitawatte (3rd - 96 Kg) did well.
