Badminton continues to raise questions?

30 January, 2022

There is speculation among badminton circles that Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB) intends to conduct an election of office bearers in the near future.

There is also speculation that the current president Rohan de Silva will not seek re-election and has asked another member to contest for the post of president. This member is a close associate of the current president but with a questionable conduct.

Speculation that the CEO Trevor Reckerman has left SLB is not true and he continues to work from home.

“I now work only on foreign correspondence and arrangements and my workload is reduced very much,” said Reckerman.

Most of the local work is done by a new manager who was appointed a few months ago by SLB.

Meanwhile, the AGM of the Western Province Badminton Association (WPBA) could not be held again as an enquiry into the violation of the Constitution has not been held yet.

There is an allegation that some six clubs affiliated to the WPBA has not been given voting rights and these clubs have objected to the meeting.

The Sri Lanka Schools Badminton Association is ready to conduct their AGM on February 2, 2022 at Isurupaya. However, it has come to light that they have not submitted their audited accounts for 2020 and 2021.
