Athletics to hold symposium on April 7

3 April, 2022

Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) has arranged a symposium to be held at the BMICH on April 7 to mark their centenary celebrations from 10.30 am onwards.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, who was the former president of the Athletic Association, will grace the occasion as the chief guest. Besides, several distinguished guests have also been invited.

Some of Sri Lanka’s greatest athletes ever to come out prominently, such as Olympian Susanthika Jayasinghe, Damayanthi Darsha, Sugath Tillakaratne and others are expected to grace the occasion.

SLA has invited nearly 400 persons altogether for this historic event, including foreign delegations from friendly countries.

There will be a South Asian Athletics committee meeting on the same day to discuss matters related to next year’s South Asian Games to be held in Pakistan.

SLA has also shown its gratitude to their long standing sponsor, SLT Mobitel, for joining them as their main sponsor to help conduct the national meet and enhance the level of quality of the event.
