On April 24, Youth Observer revealed that Jacqueline Fernandez has an alleged relationship with a conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar who was involved in Delhi’s biggest multi-crore extortion racket, and that she allegedly received expensive and luxurious gifts from Chandrashekhar.
The newest update is that Jacqueline’s assets worth Ind. Rs 7 crore have been seized in conman Sukesh Chandrashekar’s case. The Enforcement Directorate (ED), the federal anti-money laundering agency in Delhi, attached her assets with the Ind. Rs 200 crore money laundering case against alleged conman Chandrashekar. As per media reports, the agency has estimated that conman gave the actress gifts worth Ind. Rs 5.71 crore and lent close to $173,000 and around 27,000 Australian dollars to Jacqueline’s family members.
Media buzz
NEWS18.COM reported on April 30: “A charge sheet was filed last year by the ED earlier in the connection with the case and mentioned the lavish gifts that Sukesh allegedly gave Jacqueline. The conman admitted to it during the prob.”
The news web also cited a report by Hindustan Times which listed the alleged gifts Jacqueline received from Sukesh Chandrashekar.
According to it, those gifts include: three Persian cats each costing about Ind. Rs 9 lakh, an Arabian horse worth Ind. Rs 52 lakh, diamond sets — 15 pairs of earrings, expensive crockery, several designer bags from Gucci and Chanel, two Gucci outfits for gym wear, a few pairs of Louis Vuitton shoes, two Hermes brackelets, a Mini Cooper and a rolex watch.
The NEWS18.COM further revealed: “The news of the conman’s jaw-dropping gifts to the Ram Setu actress first made headlines last year when Sukesh claimed in his statement to ED that he gave Jacqueline jewellery worth Rs 7 crore. Sukesh also allegedly offered a loan of USD 150,000 (Rs 1.13 crore) to Jacqueline’s sister, who lives in the US and also gave her a BMW X5 car. The conman apparently also gifted Jacqueline’s parents a Maserati and her mother in Bahrain a Porsche.”
As per reports, Jacqueline told the ED, in her statement recorded in August and October last year, that she “received” gifts like three designer bags from Gucci, Chanel, two Gucci outfits for gym wear, a pair of Louis Vuitton shoes, two pairs of diamond earrings and a bracelet of multi-coloured stones and two Hermes bracelets from Chandrashekhar. Later, 36-year-old actress told the federal anti-money laundering agency that she returned a Mini Cooper car which she had similarly received.
Gifts from illegal money
If Jacqueline has a romantic relationship with Chandrashekhar, there is no issue with the gifts she received from him. In fact, Chandrashekhar himself reiterated this in his letter he wrote from jail, which was released by Chandrashekhar’s lawyer:
“I have gifted her things and done things for her family, are normal things one would do for his loved one in a relationship. It’s personal. I don’t understand why it’s being made such a big deal. At the same time, I would like to again certain that none of this was ‘proceeds of so-called crime’.
It’s all from legitimate earnings and the same would be proved in the court of law very soon.”
But the case is that all she accepted from Chandrashekhar were allegedly earned by illegal money. According to the media reports, he extorted the money by cheating high-profile people including former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh’s wife Aditi Singh.
The accused
The ED earlier arrested Chandrasekhar, his wife Leena Maria Paul, Pinki Irani, his long-time associate, who allegedly introduced Chandrashekhar to Fernandez, and seven others. They even filed prosecution complaints.
In its probe, ED also found that Chandrashekhar was in “regular contact” with Fernandez since February till he got arrested on August 7 last year (by the Delhi Police). He was later arrested by the ED too.
Romantic story
In the meantime, web media and film makers largely seem to be more interested in Jacqueline’s alleged relationship with Chandrashekhar than the money laundering case. Times of India also approved this:
“Now, as Jacqueline’s and Sukesh Chandrashekhar’s never-ending saga is getting murkier with each passing day, one might see a proper web show based on this alleged relationship between the duo. Yes! you read that right. Taking into account all the narratives in the case, filmmakers are considering making a series or a documentary for a streaming platform. As per the latest reports, an OTT producer, in a conversation with a news portal, has stated that there is a lot of interest in Sukesh and Jacqueline’s story and a fictional account of the relationship could well be on the cards.”
The intensity of their love is also revealed from Chandrashekhar’s letter: “As I have mentioned before, I and Jacqueline were in a relationship, seeing each other, and the relationship was not based on any kind of monetary benefits like the way it’s projected, commented, and trolled in a bad light.”
“The relationship has lots of love and respect for each other without any expectations. Kindly requesting everyone to stop projecting her in a bad way, as it’s not easy on her, who has only loved without expecting anything. As I have mentioned before that she has no involvement in the ongoing money-laundering case.”
Apart from the court case, the main reason for directing media attention on them is that a couple of mushy pictures of Jacqueline with conman went viral on social media which ignited their dating rumours.
In one of the snaps, Jacqueline was seen planting a kiss on Sukesh’s cheek while he captured the loved-up moment! In another one, both could be seen posing for a selfie. As per reports, these pictures were taken around April-June when the conman was out on interim bail.
Jacqueline’s response
ED has found that Chandrasekhar and Jacqueline met around four times in Chennai, for which Chandrashekhar arranged a private jet for the actress. In October last year, his lawyer, in his arguments, had claimed that Jacqueline and Sukesh were dating, which was subsequently denied by Jacqueline’s spokesperson. But the ‘Times of India’ went on to say that Chandrashekhar had promised to boost her career by making a Ind. Rs 500 crore three-part woman superhero project with her. Anyway, in her statement to the ED, the actress had confessed that Sukesh Chandrashekhar gave her two pairs of diamond earrings, two Hermes bracelets, three Birkin bags, a pair of Louis Vuitton shoes, and a horse named Espuela. She has also admitted that her sister took a loan of $1,50,000 from the conman.
Disgrace
The news updates of Jacqueline Fernandez are total disgrace not just for the actress, but for Sri Lanka as well, as she represents the island indirectly. So, to get rid of the mess, she promptly has to correct her image. Otherwise, she might end up ruining her entire cinematic career which she has built up for more than a decade, and also breaking all the Bollywood dreams of Sri Lankan young artistes.
