The all Island Inter School English Debating Competition conducted by the English Debating Society of Ananda College for the prestigious Dr. N.M. Perera Memorial Challenge Trophy which began on June 17 will conclude today (June 19)
The English Debating Society of Ananda College, established in 1915 is one of the most respected and prominent English debating societies in the country. The Dr. N.M. Perera Memorial Challenge Trophy was first awarded in 1986 to the winners of the competition held among the leading public and international schools in the country.
In the forthcoming completion, where the Colombo Stock Exchange has come forward as the primary sponsor and the Sri Lanka Technological Campus as the platinum sponsor, debaters of 38 leading schools in the country will contest fiercely for this prestigious trophy for the 36th consecutive year at the Kularatne Hall of the College.
