Bank of Ceylon marks Vesak and Poson with religious events

The Bank of Ceylon’s Buddhist association together with BOC staff organised a series of religious programs in commemorating Vesak and Poson Poya Days.

‘Muni Guna Waruna Bhakthi Gee’ a musical evening was held at the bank’s head office and a special program was held in Anuradhapura ‘Ruwanweli Maha Seya’ temple in celebration of the life of the Buddha who followed the way to attain enlightenment.

These events organised by the bank’s Buddhist association was conducted by staff members and ex-staff members of the bank, are some of the much anticipated events.

Director Harsha Wijewardhana and General Manager K.E.D. Sumanasiri, Members of the Corporate and Executive Management and staff members were also present.

The ceremony in Anuradhapura was held under the guidance of Chief Incumbent of Ruwanweli Seya Vihara and Chief Sanghanayaka Nuwarakalaviya Ven. Pallegama Hemarathana Thera,  Anuradhapura Divisional Secretary J.M.J.K. Jayasundara was a guest of honour.

Apart from the ‘Bakthi Gee’ event, the staff of BOC Mihintale Branch together with staff of the bank’s Anuradhapura Province organised the ‘Dana’ for devotees who observed ‘Sil’ at the Mihintale temple. A tea dansala was conducted at the Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi Maluwa for devotees.

These events were organised with the guidance of the Assistant General Manager North Central Province, Mahinda Bandara. Deputy General Manager Branch Operations and Development Banking, Priyal Silva and Assistant General Manager Marketing, Aruna Hettiarachchi also participated in these events in Anuradhapura representing the Bank’s Corporate and Executive Management.
