A swashbuckling knock of 62 runs by Sachitha Jayathillaka helped John Keells beat Mode Engineering by four runs in the final of the Singer-MCA Super Premier League played at the MCA ground yesterday.
John Keells were in a bad way when Jalathillaka walked to the crease and hit seven sixes to top score with 62 runs off just 39 deliveries.
Kevin Bandara chipped in with 42 runs with two sixes.
This pair was also involved in an invaluable partnership of 94 runs for the fifth wicket.
Mode Engineering fell short by just four runs having made a bold reply of 152 for nine wickets off the 20 overs.
