Lotus Tower rakes in Rs. 33.26 m

The Lotus Tower has earned Rs. 33.26 million since it opened up to September 23 on the sale of tickets and food outlets in the premises. In addition, 49,800 spectators had visited the Lotus Tower during this same period, the Chief Executive Officer of the Tower (Pvt) Ltd., Major General (Retd) Prasad Samarasinghe said.

“We are currently issuing Rs. 200 tickets for children below 10 years of age and Rs. 500 tickets for the elderly, along with a US$ 20 ticket for each foreigner.

Arrangements have also been made to issue Rs. 2,000 tickets for special guests in the near future, he told the Sunday Observer. He said the Lotus Tower will be open from 11 am to 10 pm on weekdays and from 10 am to 11 pm on weekends for spectators while the sale of tickets ends one hour before the closing time of each day. Each local visitor gets 30 minutes of sightseeing from the observation deck.

A large number of people stayed on the premises of the Lotus Tower till midnight on the opening day. He also said that a special program has been prepared for school students in groups.

He said that they do not expect any support from the Government for the maintenance of the Tower and hope to carry out the work from the income received from it.

Therefore, he appeals to the public to maintain its cleanliness and not damage the property.
