Air Force to recommence Monsoon Eagles Cup Golf

The first ever Monsoon Eagles Golf Championship organized by Sri Lanka Air Force Golf Committee headed by Air Vice Marshal Prasanna Ranasinghe will tee off on September 30 in China Bay.

The main sponsor for the event will be Huawei.

Addressing the media at the Air Force headquarters on Wednesday (21), Air Vice Marshal Ranasinghe said that all sporting activities were curtailed for nearly three years due to Covid-19 pandemic and other disturbances in the country.

The Championship will be played on a Stableford format for which members from all four golf clubs in the country have forwarded their entries to compete.

“A total of 100 competitors will be engaged along with a few foreigners who are competing as individuals. Fifteen women golfers too are billed to play concurrently with the men to show off their talents after a long layoff,” Air Vice Marshal Ranasinghe said.

Director of Public Affairs of Huawei in Sri Lanka Li nQing too was present at the press briefing. Supun Manamperi Assistant Vice President Huawei addressing the media noted that it was a great opportunity to get involved in sport hope to continue this partnership in the future too.

The event is scheduled to commence 7 a.m. and close with the presentation of awards in the afternoon. The organizers request all participants to be present on time as the event needs to be completed on schedule.
