SLPBC teams up with Philippine counterpart

A delegation of over 30 members of the Sri Lanka-Philippine Business Council (SLPBC) visited the Philippines to attend the 48thPhilippine Business Conference and Expo.

The delegation was led by the president of the SLPBC by Ravi De Silva. The event was held at the Manila Hotel recently.

A key event at the Business Conference was the signing of an MoU between the Sri Lanka-Philippine Business Council and its counterparts, the Philippine-Sri Lanka Business Council, to jointly promote mutually beneficial trade between both countries.

The MoU which was signed by Ravi De Silva and Chairman of the Philippines-Sri Lanka Business Council, Michael Chen.

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Philippines, Shobini Gunasekera, Honorary Consul General of the Philippines in Sri Lanka, Hugh Sriyal Dissanayake, COYLE Chairman Dimuth Silva, Executive Vice President, FFCCCII, Mary G. Ng, FFCCCII Vice President Cecilio K. Pedro, Board Member and Chairman, Trade and Industry Committee, FFCCCII, George T. Siy and Corporate Secretary and Secretary General, FFCCCII, Fernando Gan were also present.

The MoU also permits both countries to focus on bilateral development in the key areas of information and communications technology, innovation, agriculture, manufacturing, franchising, tourism, services, and small and medium enterprises development, thereby facilitating the exchange of market data, policy information, legal and regulatory requirements etc. for business tie ups and partnerships between both countries.

The MoU also permits the two parties to organise and host outbound and inbound trade and investment missions between the two countries and will assist in the identification and establishment of business contacts from their respective countries.
