Air Force SC emerged champions in the A division by narrowly beating Army SC 28-24 at the final of the Eva All Island Netball Tournament that concluded at the Air Force ground Slave Island last Sunday.

The final saw a close finish with both sides taking turns at scoring but the Air Force women used their speed to outsmart the Army women. With that win they coveted the Eva Challenge Trophy.

Ten teams participated in the men’s tournament that saw United SC take the trophy when they beat Anuradhapura SC in the final.

Holy Family Convent Kurunegala dominated the girls’ under-15, 17 and 18 events by clinching the titles in these age categories.

The women’s veterans’ event was equally contested between Speed Birds SC and Police SC and both became joint champions.

Despite rain interrupting the finals on both days the organizers managed to complete the tournament.

The Western Province Netball Association president Sandya Rajapakse and Secretary Rio Ramlan received praised for completing this event successively.

The Group Director of the sponsors ICL Brands, Shanthi Bagirathan, was the chief guest and presented the main awards.
