Elected football officials limited to five months

8 January, 2023

In one of the most dubious events to take place in the administration of football in Sri Lanka, the next set of elected officials will function for a mere five months from January 14 which is ballot day.

Jaswar Umar, who held the post and is re-contesting for the top job of president, will be challenged by J. Sri Ranga.

During the five month period Football Sri Lanka (FSL) will have to change its Constitution to fall in line with international standards as directed by the world governing body of the sport FIFA.

Paramount among the changes will be the appointment of a Chief Executive Office in place of the Secretary.

There are 62 Leagues that will cast their votes that have been reduced with three Leagues allowed just one vote each.
