The chief guest appointed by Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) to grace the inter-club League rugby match between Air Force and Police was literally shown the door at the former’s ground at Ratmalana which was the venue of the match on Friday.
Sunil Sahabandu, a former Police forward and designated chief guest was according to SLR unseated and told he is not welcome by Air Force.
“We appointed Sunil Sahabandu as chief guest for the match but he was not permitted to take his place for the teams’ introduction before the match,” said SLR president Rizly Illyas.
Air Force authorities could not be reached for their reaction.
