Sri Lanka second stringers wallop England Lions inside three days

Despite scoring 413 runs in the first innings in a three day match the touring England Lions team succumbed to a four wicket defeat in their tour opening match against a local team called the Sri Lanka Board President’s eleven at the R. Premadasa Stadium on Friday.

The win was made possible due to a quick-fire 116 off 84 deliveries inclusive of 15 fours and five sixes by Lasith Croospulle in the host team’s second innings. He helped the team to chase down a target of 309 runs for victory losing only six wickets.

Sri Lanka’s hero in the first innings was Nishan Madushka who scored 150 before retiring.

The Board President’s X1 trailed on first innings after declaring at 355 for 9 in reply to 413 made by the tourists.
