‘FREEDOM STRUGGLES OF SRI LANKA' presented to PM

1 February, 2023

Prof C M Madduma Bandara presented a copy of his researched volume titled, ‘FREEDOM STRUGGLES OF SRI LANKA; Lessons Learned and the Way Forward’ to  Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena at te Prime Minister’s Office in Colombo yesterday(31).

This book was completed on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Great Rebellion against British colonial rule in Uva Wellassa in 1818 and shows how Sri Lanka which had been an independent government for over 2000 years, lost its independence due to the oppression by the imperialists. This book highlights a strong argument that compensation should be paid for the horrible crimes committed against humanity during that period.

Speaking at this occasion Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said that it is the responsibility of the government to take action in this regard. “The reports submitted by the Buddhist Commission and  Udarata Rural Rehabilitation Commission have presented the damage done to Sri Lanka by the imperialists and the government has a responsibility to take action in that regard”, said the Prime Ministe
