All private hospitals and health institutes in the country should be registered with the Private Health Services Council before February 28, said Private Hospital Development Department’s Director Dr. Dhammika Alahapperuma.
He stated that about 10,000 private health institutions have not been registered and if the relevant institutions are not registered before February 28, legal action will be taken against them.
He said that about 1500 health institutions, including private hospitals, have received legal registration and registration can be online by visiting the website www.phsrc.lk.
He also said that it should be investigated whether the medical equipment and human resources available in the private health institutions across the country are of a certain standard.
He stated that private health institutions are operating in 11 sectors such as private hospitals, nursing homes, private laboratories and dental surgeries and serious injustice is being done to the patients by not regulating these institutes.
