Moragoda wins highest award

LL Moragoda was awarded the highest award presented by Trinity College, the Ryde Gold Medal, at the School’s prize giving on Friday (24). This medal is presented to the ‘best all round boy’ of the College. Moragoda was also awarded rugby Colours having led the Trinity team last year, the 150 anniversary year of Trinity.

World Cup in Kandy

Kandy rugby fans enjoyed a glimpse of the Rugby World Cup on Wednesday (22). They flocked in large numbers at Nittawela ground to view the Cup known as the Webb Ellis Cup. The World Cup will be played in France in September this year with South Africa as the defending champs.

Kandy SC still the dominant force

Kandy Sports Club achieved their best result once again at the inter-club league rugby tournament with an impressive performance finishing undefeated this year. They have done this for the eighth time in a row and the league rugby plum on 23 occasions. Kandy SC won the rugby league title for the first time in 1994. Since then they have continued with their winning ways.

Damith to hang up boots

Kandy SC skipper Damith Dissanayake who led the Kandy SC rugby side to win all the matches they played this year, has decided to hang up his boots. It is said that he will be migrating to Canada with his wife Roshini Wattewa.

Damith started his rugby career with Kandy SC in 2011, was in the national squad in 2016 and 2017.

Senul brings glory to Dharmaraja

Senul Ratnayake of Dharmaraja College made his school and Kandy proud by being selected to the Central Province table tennis team. He is the youngest player in the squad.
