Hisham Abdeen’s academy catches them young

As many as 72 enthusiastic junior rugby teams entered the arena to contest the annul Hisham Abdeen Rugby Football Academy (HARFA) Carnival that began at Havelock Park yesterday under the patronage of the legendary Sri Lanka player Hisham Abdeen.

The teams are divided into the age categories of Under-8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 21, Open and women with the first three age groups playing in an exhibition format. This rugby carnival will be held over two days with the finals in all the categories to be held today (12).

The finalists in the under-14 category have been found with Panadura playing against Harfa in the Cup final. The other finalists are Prince of Wales versus Anthony’s Wattala for the Plate, Lyceium versus S. Thomas’ Prep for the Bowl and Siri Piyarathana versus Sinergy for the Shield.
