People’s Bank celebrated International Women’s Day and the 30th anniversary of the Vanitha Vasana account at the People’s Bank Headquarters Branch last week.
People’s Bank Chairman Sujeewa Rajapakse and Acting Chief Executive Officer and General Manager Clive Fonseka were present.
Senior Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, T. M. J. Y. P. Fernando, was the guest of honour, with, Co-Founder, Spring & Summer, Shyamalie Wijegunawardena, Chairperson, Araliya and D&R Exports, Manel Rajkumar, women entrepreneurs, professionals and customers were also present.
The ‘Vanitha Vasana High Interest’ savings accounts was launched and ‘Vanitha Vasana Money Planner’ investment schemes were presented to select customers. A panel discussion was held to share the inspiring stories of female entrepreneurs who are engaged in bringing foreign currency to the country via development of exports.
An exhibition of products by women entrepreneurs was showcased at the event.
Senior Deputy General Manager, Overseas Customer Services, Rohan Pathirage, Deputy General Manager (Retail Banking), Renuka Jayasinghe and members of the Corporate and Executive Management teams of People’s Bank were also present.
Similar celebrations of International Women’s Day took place at People’s Bank branches around the island.
