Sagala to resolve Tri Forces’ issues

19 March, 2023

Senior Adviser to the President on National Security and Chief of the Presidential Staff Sagala Ratnayaka has taken steps to address a number of issues, including pension and salary disparities among the members of Tri Forces and differently-abled war heroes that have been unresolved for over ten years since the end of the humanitarian operation in the North and the East in 2009.

Senior Adviser to the President on National Security, Ratnayaka convened a discussion at the Presidential Secretariat last week regarding the unresolved issues of the members of the Tri Forces on the directive of President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

It was revealed at the discussion that nearly 7,000 soldiers face hardships due to these issues. Eleven major unresolved issues faced by the three Security Forces personnel were presented at the discussion. Except for two, steps were taken by the Government to provide solutions to the other issues.

Ratnayaka also considered a request to change the 85 percent pension cut from members of the Tri Forces who retired before 2009 without serving the required five years in operational areas. He also instructed the authorities to present a detailed report on the cost of fulfilling the request to be submitted before April 5.
