Ananda College in Colombo and Hindu College in Jaffna will take their quest to enhance community bonding to a higher level through a cricket and basketball series that will continue and get underway on March 21 for a prize called the Sivagurunathan Memorial Trophy.
This year’s proceedings will be organised by the Ananda Old Boys Association that will also feature a chess tournament.
The late VTS Sivagurunathan served Ananda College as its headmaster from 1916 to 1942 during the period of the school’s principal P de S Kularatne.
According to the organising committee, the sports events and the objective of the project is to create an opportunity for students, staff and parents “to transcend the physical and mental barriers that had been built over the years and eventually to set an example for inter community harmony”.
