Another 10 million eggs from India

Eggs imported from India to this country are currently being delivered to bakeries and hotels. Also, another stock of eggs is to be brought to Sri Lanka, states the Sri Lanka State Trading (General) Corporation.

Mr. Asiri Valisundara, Chairman of the State Various Statutory Corporation, said that orders have been given to import around 10 million eggs to Sri Lanka

The government decided to import eggs due to factors such as the shortage of eggs in the Sri Lankan market and the high price of eggs. Accordingly, the first batch of 02 million eggs imported was received in Sri Lanka However, due to problems in releasing it from the port, there was a delay in releasing it to the market. Subsequently, Eggs were distributed to bakeries and hotel owners from yesterday onwards after being released from the port.
