Wet weather caused the annual Battle of the Blues one-day game between Trinity College and St. Anthony’s College played for the Sir Richard Aluvihare Trophy to be abandoned without a result at the Asgiriya Stadium yesterday.
Sent in to bat first St. Anthony’s led by Lahiru Amarasinghe scored 228 for 8 in their 50 overs as Janith Rathnasiri scored 66 with five hits to the ropes and two over it. Thisara Ekanayake chipped in with 51 with eight fours.
Trinity were able to come out to bat only at 4 pm and could occupy the crease for just 40 minutes when the game was called off with the score at 34 for one wicket off 5.5 overs.
