Sri Lanka Golf (SLG) has picked two of the best junior golfers in Reshan Algama and Kaya Daluwatte to represent the country at the Junior Asia Pacific Golf Championship to be played in the Philippines from May 16 to 18.

Both have done exceptionally well in tournaments held in Sri Lanka and overseas and this Asia Pacific golf championship organized by Asia Pacific Golf Confederation provides a competitive environment for young players to gain valuable exposure to improve their game and skills to the next level.

It was only recently that Algama made the news by winning the Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Ranking Tournament to become the youngest ever to do so.

He began by winning at Age Group championships from the age of eight years and followed it up by winning the Regional junior golf tournament for three years in a row. He was also Sri Lanka’s junior age group match-play champion in 2017.

Algama has aspirations to become a professional golfer and play in the PGT in the India circuit.

Currently, Algama is part of the Sri Lanka National Golf Development squad and is a regular winner of the RCGC monthly medal. Kaya Daluwatte at just 14 years is an aspiring golfer. She started playing as a seven year old and fell in love with golf instantly.

She won the Sri Lanka Junior Open Golf Championship in 2021 and 2022 and is the RCGC Ladies Section club champion for the past two years.

Being a student in India, Kaya plays in the Indian national level tournaments against the best women players in India that has given her a great opportunity to improve her game.
