Salt is a white transparent crystalline compound. It is found in the rocks of mines. Rock salt is reddish in colour. It is seldom used in our everyday life. We use refined salt in our food.
Edible salt is prepared from sea water. It is boiled or dried in the sun. Salt gives taste to our food. It is also
used in the preservation of food, such as meat.
