Exposition of Neelagiri Sacred Relics at Homagama

The exposition of the Neelagiri Sacred Relics will be held at the Dharma Rashmi Poson Zone, Homagama from June 3 to 5. The relics will be taken to Homagama on June 3 morning with full state security and thereafter to the Sugathabimbarama temple, Homagama in a procession with an elephant of the Dalada Maligawa.

After the Buddha pooja in the afternoon, the sacred relics will be exposed and the devotees will have the opportunity to worship the sacred relics on June 4 and 5 from 9 am to 12 midnight.

The Neelagiri sacred relics could not be exposed to devotees for the past three years and this time they could worship the sacred relics during the Dharma Rashmi Poson Zone. It is headed by Minister of Transport, Highways and Mass Media Dr. Bandula Gunawardena.

Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Vidura Wickramanayaka is providing support. All these activities are being done under the supervision of Commissioner General of Archaeology Prof. Anura Manathunga. Private bus associations have also arranged to operate a free special bus service within the Poson zone.

Arrangements have been made for long-distance buses to run through the Makumbura Multimodal Transport Centre until 12 midnight for those coming from faraway places to worship the sacred relics and view the Dharma Rashmi Poson zone.
