Israeli Airlines allowed to operate in Sri Lanka

The Cabinet of Ministers today (30 May) has granted approval for Akira Airlines, Israeli based airline to operate in Sri Lanka
Earlier, the airline was not allowed to commence flights from Sri Lanka due to security reasons; Airlines had two security guards in the planes – this was not permitted in Sri Lanka due to security reasons.
Minister of Tourism Harin Fernando stated that the approval was given after much consideration subject to certain conditions. Security personnel in the plane could only operate inside the plane and are not allowed to act outside of it. Furthermore, the airline will be required to follow similar security protocols to countries such as Dubai when setting up its office in Sri Lanka.
