The Enterprise Sri Lanka exhibition in Moneragala to support the creation of 100,000 entrepreneurs in the country concluded on Friday.

Over 300,000 people visited the exhibition during the three-day event. This is the first in a series of district based exhibitions. The second edition will be held in Anuradhapura at the end of the year. The exhibition also included an advisory service with regard to 16 loan schemes introduced under Enterprise Sri Lanka program. This service created an awareness among the potential entrepreneurs with regard to related loan schemes and the way how to apply for the loan with the necessary advice and guidance by the state bank officials who visited the exhibition.

Following the introduction of loan schemes several entrepreneurs were granted loans by Bank of Ceylon officials. Small time self-employed people were provided with Rs 50,000 interest free loans through the State banks. The farmers were given advice on how to reach the export market through commercialisation of agri goods and products as Moneragala is an agriculture related district.

The exhibition was a difference as it provided an opportunity for the entrepreneurs and potential entrepreneurs to move forward and it created a platform to build business. It also gave them the knowledge to become a successful entrepreneur.

The training was provided by State as well as the private sector. This was the specialty of the Enterprise Sri Lanka exhibition.
