Optiemus to launch BlackBerry Keyone in Sri Lanka

A range of products at varying prices for various segments of Sri Lanka is in the pipeline and will be launched in the next six months, a top official for Optiemus Infracom Limited said at the launch of BlackBerry KEYone Limited Edition Black in Colombo last week.

“We are very excited about the Sri Lankan market which is promising. Our entry to Sri Lanka marks the beginning of our expansion into new locations out of India,” he said.

Optiemus inked a licensing deal with Blackberry in February this year to design. manufacture and distribute BlackBerry branded smart phones in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. The company partnered with Softlogic for distribution in Sri Lanka.

Optiemus Infracom Executive Director Hardip Singh said the company is confident the customers in Sri Lanka will enjoy the new product as it offers unparalleled productivity, attractive design, camera quality and superior user interface.

BlackBerry KEYone Limited Edition Black is the first BlackBerry branded device produced locally by Optiemus Infracom under the licensing agreement. BlackBerry KEYone is an upgraded version of Global KEYone.

“We have kept the price low because the product will be further developed,” Singh said.

BlackBerry KEYone Limited Edition Black in India in August. With its state of the art keyboard that enabling typing long emails, messages and notes a seamless task grabbed the attention of smart phone users in India.

“Sri Lankan customers will be assured of high quality and unmatched security of the new product which will come in handy for both businessmen and all others,” Senior Vice President, General Manager Mobility Solutions at BlackBerry Alex Thurber said.
