Body of Foreigner washed ashore

The body of a Ukrainian tourist washed ashore yesterday to the Duwe Modara seashore in the Kosgoda Police Division. According to the Police, the foreigner had gone missing while swimming in the sea off of Ambalangoda on Thursday. The man is said to be 29 years old at the time of his death. Kosgoda Police are investigating.

Man electrocuted to death

A man was electrocuted to death in Pussellawa on Friday. According to the Police, the man had attempted to clear a fallen electric wire near the Rossweil Tea Factory. The deceased has been identified as 27-year-old Aruna Shantha of O.R.C Section, Pussellawa. Police say the incident had taken place when the victim had gone to gather wood.

Motorcyclist killed in Bingiriya

A motorcyclist was killed in Bingiriya Friday evening on the Chilaw Wariyapola road. According to the Police, the motorcycle the victim had been travelling on had crashed head-on with a lorry travelling in the opposite direction. While the lorry driver, motorcyclist and the pillion rider were hospitalized, the motorcyclist had later succumbed to his injuries after being admitted to the Chilaw Hospital for further treatment. The victim is a 33-year-old resident of Kadigamuwa.
