The 11th edition of the Inter Schools Invitation Football Tournament for President’s Cup – 2018 organized by the Group of 80’s of Hameed Al Husseinie College will be held at the Colombo International Rugby Complex from mid February.
The official launch of the sponsorship was held at the Hameedians Fellowship dinner organized by the Old Boys’ Association recently at Hotel Galadari, Colombo. At the launch Oxford Group a major importer and distributor of quality leather products in Sri Lanka took over the main sponsorship for the Tournament for the first time.
The Inter Schools Invitation Football Tournament has been organized by the Group of 80’s from 2008 onwards and 20 leading football playing schools participated every year vying for the prestigious title. Last year President’s Cup was won by the host team.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman of Oxford Group Imthiyas Farook stated that it is very important to groom children from their school days to be top sportsmen. He also emphasized that good leadership and execution of skills can be developed through a team sport such as football in which they learn how to bring ultimate results. He also noted that being an old boy of Hameed Al Husseinie College along with his brothers namely Roshan Farook, Hifas Farook and Shamil Farook who are also the Directors of Oxford Group, it is a proud moment for them to sponsor this well organized football tournament which the school is well known for.
The Organizers are hoping to play the final under flood lights which should attract a large number of soccer fans from all parts of the country as outstation schools too are invited for this prestigious tournament.
