Schools rugby kicks off

The inter-school league rugby season got underway yesterday with defending champions Royal College hosting Kingswood College and more matches are scheduled for the following week.

The matches lined-up for the coming week will be Trinity versus St. Anthony’s at Nittawela, St. Joseph’s versus S. Thomas’ at Longden Place, Isipathana vs DS Senanayake at Havelock Park, Wesley versus Dharmaraja at Longden Place and St. Peter’s versus Zahira at Bambalapitiya. The dates of the matches are yet to be confirmed and finalised according to the Schools Rugby Association.Twelve teams are contesting the League in two groups and four teams from each group will qualify for the second round.

Group A1: Royal College, Trinity College, St. Joseph’s College, S. Thomas’ College, St. Anthony’s College, Kingswood College

Group A2: St. Peter’s College, Isipathana College, Wesley College, Zahira College, Dharmaraja College, DS Senanayake College
