Bangladesh Manager refuses to tour Sri Lanka

4 March, 2018

Khaled Mahmud, Bangladesh cricket team’s technical director, refused to travel as manager in the upcoming Nidhas Trophy, said Bangladesh Cricket Board official. BCB had chosen Courtney Walsh as the interim head coach while Mahmud was supposed to fulfill the duty of manager for the tri-series.

Disappointing result in the just concluded home series against Sri Lanka was cited as the major reason for bringing the changes in the team management.

“He (Mahmud) refused to travel as manager”, BCB cricket operation chairman Akram Khan said. “It is not yet finalised because he might change his decision if our president Nazmul Hasan ask him to reconsider his decision”, he added.

Mahmud had earlier refused to be associated with Bangladesh after their disappointing performance but later changed his mind saying he would continue to do so if the board ask him.

Bangladesh start training session at Sher-e-Bangla on Friday before travelling to Sri Lanka on March 4 for the tournament, starting on March 6.

They play their first fixture on March 8 against India.
