Railway Unions flex muscles

Railways unions may embark on another strike if a satisfactory solution is not provided to their grievances on Thursday, August 23 when they meet government officials, Secretary, Locomotive Operating Engineers’ Union (LOEU), Indika Dodangoda said.

Several railway trade unions which went on strike recently will meet with President Maithirpala Sirisena and officials of the Ministries of Public Administration, Finance and Transport on the day at the Presidential Secretariat. According to Dodangoda, the unions have decided to temporarily call of the trade union action which was to take place on Tuesday, August 21, till the outcome of the meeting is known.
