The Western Music Society of Hillwood College, Kandy has organized a concert, “Orpheus 2018” at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Auditorium Polgolla, Kandy, on September 15. The School Chamber Orchestra will be headed by Samith Mahavidanage Perera – Music Composer, Arranger and Conductor Multi Musical Instrumentalist. Mahavidanage is a musician, qualified at the Board of the Royal School of Music, London, and will be joined by the School Choir and the at present, he is conducting a Chamber Music School at Hillwood College in collaboration with Moshani Fernando – the Teacher in-Charge of Western Music. Hillwood College is the only school in Kandy that conducts a Chamber Music School for pupils.Apart from that Mahavidanage has conducted orchestras for both recordings and live performance along with members of the Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka, the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation and musicians overseas. He engages in Western Classical Music, Pop, Rock, Reggae, Country Music, Fusion Music, Indian Music and Sri Lankan Music.
