Galle district’s left-arm bowler Sachini Nisansala captured all ten wickets in an innings and returned a match bag of 17 wickets in the Southern Province inter-district women’s cricket tournament match against Hambantota district played at Vijitha Central College grounds on Saturday.
Another Galle district cricketer left-hander Kavindi Parami retired after scoring 107 runs off 99 balls with 17 hits to the ropes as Galle annihilated Hambantota district by an innings and 188 runs.
Galle district batting first declared their first innings at 291/7 with Parami (107), Iresha Chathurani (49) and Nilakshana Sandamini (44) being the main scorers.
Nisansala captured seven wickets for 18 runs off 8.4 overs to restrict Hambantota district to a first innings score of 54. Following on Hambantota were dismissed for 49 runs with Sachini claiming all ten wickets for 15 runs off 10.2 overs. The Southern Province inter-district women’s cricket tournament is being played to select players for the Southern Province cricket team for the inter-provincial women’s cricket tournament to be conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket next month.
