15-year-old killed in accident
A 15-year-old boy was killed in Mahabage when he lost control of the motorcycle he was riding and it crashed onto a concrete pillar. According to the Police, the incident had occurred on a road near the Thapovanarama Temple on Friday.
The victim identified as Thimara Wijekoon, a resident of Mattumagala, Ragama was declared dead on being brought to the Ragama Hospital, Police said.
Heroin peddler nabbed
Acting on a tip-off, the Modera Police arrested one person for being in possession of heroin on Friday.
The man who was arrested near the Kali Kovil in Modera was alleged to have had 3.5 grams of heroin on his person at the time of arrest.
According to the Police, the suspect is a 57-year-old resident of Modera.
Vehicle parts racket foiled
Officers of the organized crimes unit apprehended three suspects involved in stealing vehicle parts, Police sources said. The trio was arrested in the Kelanimulla, Angoda area along with a vehicle used in the racket, the Police said.
The suspects aged 46, 35, 44 are said to be residents of Maharagama and Angoda areas.
