Defending champions Kandy SC beat CH&FC by 23 points (2tries, 2 conversions, 3 penalties) to 6 (2 penalties) in their Dialog ‘A’ Division inter club league rugby opening encounter played at Race Course International stadium yesterday.
The winners were leading 20 points to 3 at half time.
Both Kandy and CH and FC played a scrapy game through out the entire match.
For the winners the two tries were scored by centre Danuska Ranjan and skipper Gayan Weeraratne one try apiece while the two conversions were fired across by full back Thilina Wijesinghe and he also slotted in the three penalties as well.
For the losing CH&FC young full back Samuel Maduwantha put over the two long range penalties.
