International match referee and Sri Lanka Cricket head selector Graeme Labrooy took ex-Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera to task after he was accused of unethical deeds and being in conflict with two roles.

Jayasekera on Wednesday charged that Labrooy had given an assurance on being appointed the chief selector that he will step aside from the role of International Cricket Council (ICC) match referee.

But Labrooy hit out at Jayasekera saying the former Sports Minister was practicing duplicity.

“I did three assignments as match referee when he (Jayasekera) was the Sports Minister and he knew about it. He is not here for me to ask him why he is saying this now”, Labrooy said at a Press conference a few hours after the former Sports Minister made the claim. When a reporter pressed the former fast bowler to clarify his stance, Labrooy shot back. “The ICC has no problem with it, SLC (Sri Lanka Cricket) has no problem with it and I see no reason why the media should have a problem with it”, said Labrooy.
