PSC to summon PM, key politicians soon

The Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) appointed to investigate into the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks will summon key politicians including, the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to testify before the Committee in the coming weeks, the Sunday Observer learns.

A member of the PSC said yesterday (22) that they have finalized a list of politicians who will be called to testify before the Committee in the near future.

However, no exact dates have been set for the hearings the source said. “We will begin gathering testimonies from the State Minister of Defence, Ruwan Wijewardene, and former Ministers of Law and Order, Sagala Ratnayaka and Ranjith Madduma Bandara.

Thereafter we expect to summon Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe before the PSC” he disclosed. The Committee earlier questioned politicians including former Governors Azath Sally and A.L.M.A. Hizbullah, IGP, Pujith Jayasundara, (on compulsory leave) former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando, ex-National Intelligence Bureau Chief Sisira Mendis, former TID director DIG Nalaka De Silva and Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration J. J. Rathnasiri.
