President of the World Taekwondo Federation in Sri Lanka

President of the World Taekwondo Federation, Dr. Chungwon Choue is in Sri Lanka to celebrate the achievements of Taekwondo children who face an acute shortage of facilities in society for various reasons and to support the athletes at the SAG Games in Sri Lanka.

Korea is the home country of Taekwondo and is being practiced by many people around the world. In recent years Taekwondo has achieved many a successes in Sri Lanka. Over the past two decades, the Government of Korea has partnered with the Sri Lanka Taekwondo Convention, the Sri Lanka University School Youth Service Council (SLSC), to promote the sport in the security forces and government institutions.

Dr. Chungwon Choue has been the President of the World Taekwondo Federation since 2004.

One of the foremost objectives of his visit to Sri Lanka is to provide assistance and support to the opening ceremony and programs in Sri Lanka under the theme ‘Road to Champions’, which focuses on raising children in orphanages and probation centres who are scarred by social victimisation.

 

Cambodia, Nepal and Sri Lanka have been selected to implement this project.

Dr. Choue is also expected to present the highest honour of Taekwondo the “Black Belt 9 Ban Degree” to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
