Over 20 International schools to contest athletics meet

The 20th edition of the International Schools Athletic Championship 2020 is scheduled to be held from February 14 to 16 at the Sugathadasa stadium organized by Gateway Group with 23 schools lined up to contest.

The Championship has become a big draw for athletes from International schools that have produced some fine track and field exponents.

In fact International schools were able to bring in 17 male and female junior athletes to represent the country at junior international meets.

Though this championship is meant for International schools the organizers have not forgotten national schools athletes and have invited eight boys and girls relay teams to participate at this year’s championship.

These details were disclosed to the media by the Chairman of Gateway Group Dr. Harsha Alles at a press briefing held in Colombo on Wednesday.

Asia Pearson PLC and Ceylon Biscuits (CBL) are the main sponsors of this year’s Championship while the co-sponsors are Home Lands, Hatton National Bank, D Samson Group, Airtel, Hoe to Drive Driving School, Oxford University Press, Asiri Health, Gateway Graduate School and Accolade by Gateway.

Participating schools are Asian International School, Alethea International School, Belvoir College, Burjani Serendib School, British School Colombo, Colombo International School, Colombo, Colombo International School Kandy, Elizabeth Moir International School, Gateway College Colombo, Gateway College Kandy, Horizon College International Ilma International School, Leeds International School, Lyceum International School Nugegoda, Lyceum International School Panadura, Lyceum International School Ratnapura, Lyceum School Wattala, OKI International School, Royal Institute Colombo, Stafford International School, St. Nicholas’ International College Wycherley International School Colombo and Wycherley International School Gampaha.
