Rain hits Yala paddy harvesting in Ampara

Farmers in the Ampara district are facing difficulties as a result of the heavy rains in the district.

The harvesting of paddy for the Yala 2020 season has begun in the Ampara district. Farmers said they are unable to harvest on time due to the rains.

A sudden change in the weather was observed in the Eastern coastal areas recently. Many parts of the district had heavy rain during the past few days.

About 180,000 acres was brought under paddy cultivation in the Ampara district during the Yala season.

Farmers said they can reap a better harvest this time compared to the previous seasons.
