The highest number of COVID-19 patients were reported yesterday in Sri Lanka with 300 new infections.
This includes 283 persons from the Kandakadu rehabilitation center, an inmate of the Welikada Priso, Nine returnees from India, Three from UAE, and a returnee from Pakistan.
The results of PCR tests conducted on the inmates and staff of the Kandakadu Drug Rehabilitation Centre has confirmed 196 COVID-19 positive cases by Thursday evening and another 87 confirmed cases by last evening.
Accordingly, the total number of COVID-19 positive patients in the country stands at 2454.
Of them, 1980 persons had made a full recovery and have been discharged from hospital.
