The Cooperative Wholesale Establishment (CWE) has decided to purchase paddy from farmers from next Monday, CWE Deputy Chairman Thushara Dissanayake said.
This is is to be done with the aim of cutting the middlemen between farmers and consumers, in order to ensure a proper income for farmers and reasonable rice prices for the public, he added.
