Another underworld figure Eron Ranasinghe alias SF Lokka died in a hail of bullets this week when two unidentified assassins shot at the vehicle he was traveling in near the Dahiyagama junction, Anuradhapura. Two Police teams are now on the hunt to nab the killers. According to Police Spokesman Jaliya Senaratne the Police have already obtained statements from seven witnesses. He said the Police are yet to identify the suspects.
Following the shooting, the car he was traveling in caught fire and was destroyed as well. At the time of his killing, SF Lokka had been traveling with his partner who is said to be the wife of another known drug smuggler according to the Police.
“Before we even crossed the railway line I heard a loud noise. I thought it was firecrackers because of the election. A scooter that was right behind us then almost crashed into our vehicle” she recalled. According to her, SF Lokka had decided to come to Anuradhapura on the day to cast his vote.
“He doesn’t like to come to Anuradhapura but he came because he wanted to vote. He got the chance to vote only after 10 years. He said he couldn’t stay in Anuradhapura and wanted to leave the town right after voting” she added. SF Lokka was the main suspect in the killing of Wasantha Soysa better known by his alias Karate Wasantha. On October 24, 2015 SF Lokka and a group were accused of killing Wasantha Soysa after attacking him at the Panorama nightclub in Anuradhapura owned by Soysa. Police investigations are continuing.
