A maritime security person from Egypt who embarked at the Galle Sea Port yesterday tested COVID-19 positive following a PCR test on him, Galle District Regional Epidemiologist Wenura K. Singakkara said.
He had arrived on board a ship from Egypt, the epidemiologist said. He was referred to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH) for treatment, he said.
Four maritime security officers had arrived and all had to undergo PCR tests. Of them, three have been in quarantine at a hotel in Galle. Five boat crew members were also in quarantine. After seven days, all have to undergo another PCR test, Dr. Singakkara said.
