Girls Chess Grand Prix for top 20 players

The Chess Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL) has decided to hold a youth (under 14 years) Girls Chess Grand Prix event from August 29 to September 1 at its headquarters in Nugegoda.

This is one of the leading chess events in Sri Lanka for girls where only the top 20 youth players can participate in a Round Robin system. The Chess Federation of Sri Lanka is offering prizes of Rs. 40,000 for the winners in addition to medals and trophies.

Chess players with the following performances are eligible for this tournament while international players will also be accommodated according to the organisers.

1. All National Chess Team players in this age group

2. Top five players in the Sri Lanka National Youth Chess Championship 2019 – U-13 girls

3. Top three players in the Sri Lanka National Youth Chess Championship 2019 – U-11 girls

4. The Champion of the Sri Lanka National Youth Chess Championship 2019 – Under -7, 9 girls

5. National Amateur Girls Chess Championship 2019- Top three players (if eligible)

6. Junior Girls National Chess Championship 2019 - Top three

7. Ten players according to the latest International Rating List below 14 years girls

8. Two players with the highest performance from the International Rating Chess Tournaments held so far. (Earlier points system was used to rank, Under-15 or Open Champion 10, Runner up 9, Third 8 till no 10 get 1. Instead of points system should win at least one event Under-12, 13, 15 G category, or rating category placed in top three in another. Played at least five events

9. Wild Card Entries

The event will be played in the time control of 90 minutes 30 second exactly as the Boys Youth Chess Grand Prix, 2 nine round Swiss events and a knocked out stage. Wild Card entries should make a request to this Email with their FIDE ID, highest rating achieved ever and performances to declare.
