Only SLBFE authorised to send Lankan workers to Israel

24 September, 2020

Labour Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva said that only Sri Lankan workers approved by the Sri Lankan government will be allowed to work as skilled labourers in Israel hereafter based on the bilateral agreement signed between two countries.

Accordingly, the Israeli Government has stopped accepting Sri Lankan workers through Sri Lankan private recruitment agencies and only the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) is authorised to send Sri Lankan workers to Israel.

This decision was taken following public complaints that private employment agencies had charged large amounts of money from persons who wish to go to Israel for employment and especially for those sent to work in Israel’s domestic nursing and agricultural sectors.

The Minister further said that due to this agreement, no private employment agency would be allowed to send Sri Lankan workers to Israel hereafter.

The Minister urged the public not to be deceived by any private agency claiming to have the authority to send Sri Lankans as skilled labourers to Israel.
