Ceylon Chamber forms Council for Startups

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) recently established the CCC Council for Startups under the guidance of its National Agenda Committee on Entrepreneurship Ecosystem. The inaugural meeting was held on September 28.

The newly set up Council strongly believes that entrepreneurs can accelerate the process of economic development through the efficient use of unused natural resources, human resources and capital.

The creation of a sound Startup ecosystem that addresses current impediments and challenges is the need of today. It is with this intention that the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce has envisaged the formation of the CCC Council for Startups.

The eight-member committee of the Council encompasses entrepreneurs, accelerators and incubators, financiers, investors and other ecosystem players.

Managing Partner, BoV Capital, Prajeeth Balasubramaniam, representing investors, was appointed Chairman of the Council. CEO, SLINTEC, Heminda Jayaweera, CEO, nCinga, Imal Kalutotage, Co-Founder and Managing Director, Good Market, Ms. Achala Samaradivakara and Co-founder, Spa Ceylon, Shalin Balasuriya represent entrepreneurs, CEO, Hatch and Director, Goodlife Accelerator, Ms. Randhula de Silva represents accelerators and incubators and Founder Chairman, Lanka Impact-Investment Network, Chandula Abeywickrama represents other eco-system players in the inaugural committee of the Council. A nominee of the Sri Lanka Banks Association will represent the financers.
